Local Area Information
OUT AND ABOUT:
La Ville Hervé is situated just over 1km from our local village Landéhen. It has a bar/shop and a boulangerie, and it also has tennis courts and horse riding.
10 minutes drive away is the market town of Lamballe. A major attraction is the Haras National Stud Farm. There are large live displays and carriage rides.
Don't miss: Lamballe's thursday morning market
Lamballaise; thursday evening with lots of food, drink, and lots of music and dancing.
Lamballe is a beautiful town with lots of bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets.
We are just 20 minutes drive from some of the beautiful beaches of Cotes d'Armor. Here are a few of our favorites:
- Val André (20 minutes drive)
Take a cliff-top walk from the pretty port of Dahouet to the curving, beautiful, sandy bay of Val André - an attractive, bustling seaside town with lots of shops, bars, restaurants, snack bars and a casino.
- Le Petit Saint-Michel (30 minutes drive)
Yet another beautiful sandy beach with turquoise blue crystal clear water. Low tide reveals a pebbly, rocky causeway leading out to a small island with a little Chapel on top. A note of warning: do not attempt to cross the causeway to the island when the tide is coming in due to dangerously strong currents!
- Binic (30 minutes drive)
A charming port town with lots of shops, bars and restaurants. Next to the busy marina is a large open beach with a sea-water swimming pool; there is also a harbour beach beyond the jetty.
If you're looking for some slightly "wilder" beaches, ie no shops, restaurants and bars, just cliffs, sand, rock pools and lovely clear blue sea, there are some beautiful beaches to the East of Cap d'Erquy. We particularly like Portuais, Lortuais and Guen. There are many more, but too many to mention.
- Indian Forest Tree Climbing Center, Morieux (15 minutes drive)
8 different courses for all ages, 3 years and upwards. Exhilarating zip lines, rope nets and ladders, snowboarding crown or giant zip lines across the river.
- Go-Karting circuit (15 minutes drive)
For all ages, from beginners to pros.
- Tregomeur Zoo (30 minutes drive)
A perfect day out for all the family, with an eating area so don't forget to take your picnic! (and your camera)
- Fort La Latte (40 minutes drive)
This spectacular 13th century castle was built on a cliff-top on the Baie de La Fresnaye, between Cap Fréhel and St Malo. With it's mediaval herb gardens and magnificent views of the bay, th fort is steeped in history. The film The Vikings staring Kurt Douglas and Tony Curtis was filmed here in 1957.
- Dinan (30 minutes drive)
Dinan is without doubt one of the most attractive and best preserved small towns in Brittany. With it's 3km-long ramparts, half-timbered houses, attractive port and cobbled streets filled with art galleries and craft shops, we definitely recommend you taking the time to visit Dinan.
- Mont Saint-Michel (1hour drive)
This is one of France's most stunning sights; a magical island topped by a gravity-defying medieval monastery.
- Armoripark (50 minutes drive)
A large amusement park with an indoor/outdoor pool with cascades, water slides, 130 meter tobogan run, water chutes and bumper boats. Trampolines, bowling, pedal karts and buggies, mini-golf, toddler's playground and lots, lots more. Restaurant and café.

The second park is a fabulous water park with 12 slides including the Black Hole, Kamikaze, ½ pipe, and a younger chlidren's water park.

Situated between Rennes and Saint-Malo, the zoo and chateau are well-worth a visit. Don't forget to look out for the timed displays of birds of prey, hounds and horses.

A great day out for all the family.

The Sainte-Jeanne is a traditional 16 meter sailing boat, with 200m² of sails - a replica of a boat launched in 1912 and an example of the boats which made Erquy so successful, trading actively with the Channel ports. Get on board for a half-day excursion.
- Paimpol/Ile de Bréhat (1hour drive)
Take a boat trip from Paimpol to the beautiful Ile de Bréhat situated 2kms off the pink granite coast. Bréhat is a car-free island with 30 kms of sandy and rocky pathways to walk, or hire a bicycle. Restaurants and bars. Recommended: take a picnic.
There is a variety of fantastic golf courses within easy driving distance from the properties.
